XS Global has appointed former Gallagher Re Asia-Pacific chairman Mark Morley as managing director, Asia Pacific Treaty, the independently owned MGA announced on Friday.
Morley joins after more than four years at Gallagher Re, where he most recently served as chairman of Asia Pacific and deputy chairman of Gallagher Re International. There, he also served as managing director for Asia Pacific from 2022 to 2024.
He brings more than 30 years of experience in Asia. Before Gallagher Re, he spent nearly three decades with WTW and Willis Re, including as managing director for Asia Pacific.
In his new role, Morley will work alongside Mark O’Brien, who joined the business from Gallagher Re earlier this year, to develop and expand the firm’s treaty proposition and portfolio across Asia.
Commenting on the appointment, Steven Barnett, chief executive officer of XS Global Asia Pacific, noted that Morley and O’Brien had previously helped build Gallagher Re’s reinsurance platform in Asia Pacific and developed structured reinsurance propositions for the region.
XS Global launched its Hong Kong-based Asia-Pacific unit in December last year. At that time, the company stated it was targeting inward facultative property, casualty, marine, and accident and health business across the region, with treaty capabilities also identified as a key area for expansion.
