Donaldson Brown has promoted Jared Sun to head of financial lines, the New Zealand-headquartered company announced on Friday.
Sun has been with the insurance broking and risk advisory firm for four years, most recently serving as a financial lines risk adviser. Before joining Donaldson Brown, he worked at Onyx Insurance Brokers, London Insurance Market Exchange UK and Austinsure.
With more than 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, Sun brings technical expertise, market knowledge and industry insight to his new role leading the company’s financial lines team.
“His deep understanding of financial lines insurance and the complex risks businesses face means clients can be confident they’re receiving knowledgeable, practical advice and solutions tailored to their needs,” the company said on LinkedIn.
The promotion comes against a backdrop of increased deal activity in Australia and New Zealand. The two markets emerged as Asia-Pacific’s most active insurance M&A market in the first quarter of 2026, recording seven deals, according to S&P Global data.
Separately, a GlobalData report in March 2025 said that New Zealand’s general insurance industry is expected to expand significantly, with gross written premiums forecast to increase from NZ$11.8bn (US$6.7bn) in 2024 to NZ$16.3bn by 2029.
