Allianz Commercial Japan has appointed industry veteran Katsuya Kobayashi as head of marine, the company announced on Sunday.
Kobayashi has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience and has held leadership roles in Japan, Singapore and Europe, working with large multinational companies. His background spans marine insurance, global insurance programmes and risk management, according to the LinkedIn announcement by Brian Jinzenji, Allianz Commercial’s managing director for Japan and Korea.
“His extensive international experience, strong commercial acumen, and proven leadership capabilities will play an important role in supporting our clients and distribution partners, enhancing our market presence, and driving profitable growth in our Marine business in Japan,” Jinzenji added.
The appointment follows a series of hires across Allianz Commercial’s Asia operations.
In July, Allianz Commercial promoted Jenny Wilhelm to the newly created role of managing director for Singapore, and William Slade to regional head of distribution for Asia. The insurer also added Amy Zhong as assistant manager for global business operations and Masahide Naito as head of property in June.
