SCOR has announced the consolidation of its life and health (L&H) operations in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, with Chloe Wang promoted to lead the new entity.
The French reinsurer has merged its L&H Fast Growth Markets APAC and L&H Mature Markets APAC divisions into a single entity: SCOR L&H APAC.
Wang, who has been with SCOR since 2010, was named the Head of L&H for Fast Growth Markets in APAC in March, with the latest change seeing her take on responsibility for the region.
Speaking on the change, SCOR CEO Thierry Léger emphasised the strategic importance of the Asia Pacific for the company’s business. “Asia Pacific is a key growth region for Life & Health, presenting both a wealth of opportunities to grasp, as well as particular challenges to navigate,” Léger said.
He also expressed confidence in Wang driving the new entity, commenting, “We count on Chloe, her leadership team, and all our SCOR L&H employees in APAC to continue to contribute to our profitable growth and we wish her luck in this new role.”
Prior to joining SCOR, Wang’s professional background included roles at Swiss Re as Vice President, Client Markets in Beijing and AIG Life as a Senior Actuary in Toronto.
In related leadership changes, SCOR also announced that Dion Russell, who had been serving as Head of L&H Mature Markets APAC, has left the company to pursue other opportunities. Paula Bourke, currently deputy CEO for L&H Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), also assumes the role of interim head of L&H ANZ.
