Berkley Insurance Asia has appointed Ashaya Kantawala as Chief Underwriting Officer of its IFSC Branch in GIFT City, India, the business announced in a statement on LinkedIn.
Kantawala brings over 14 years of experience in the insurance industry, with expertise in underwriting casualty lines. From 2010 to 2025, he held various key leadership roles at TATA AIG General Insurance, most recently serving as Vice President and National Head for Casualty Lines.
Kantawala shared his thoughts on the appointment, commenting, “This marks the beginning of an exciting journey and a chance to contribute to a dynamic and evolving insurance landscape.”
Berkley announced in December that it had received approval to enter the Indian market through the establishment of its branch in GIFT City. Unnati Bajpai is CEO and Principal Officer of the branch, with the business making moves like the appointment of Kantawala to start operations this year.
