Zurich has announced two key leadership appointments in Asia Pacific, naming Alex Todd as Chief Underwriting Officer for APAC and Graham Johns as Head of Technical Underwriting for the region. Both appointments took effect on 17 Feb, the business said in a media release.
Todd, who joined Zurich in August 2023, previously led the short-tail commercial insurance portfolio for APAC, overseeing property, construction, energy, and marine lines and has also played a key role in expanding Zurich’s presence in India. In his new role, Todd will report to Penny Seach, Group Chief Underwriting Officer, and Sean Walker, Head of Commercial Insurance & Chief Technical Officer, APAC.
Johns moves into his new role after serving as Technical Director, Underwriting, General Insurance for Zurich Australia and New Zealand since 2016. He has played a pivotal role in developing underwriting frameworks across Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia, Zurich said, and will now report to Todd.
Sean Walker, Head of Commercial Insurance & Chief Technical Officer, APAC, emphasised the significance of the appointments: “These appointments strengthen our underwriting leadership in Asia Pacific. Alex and Graham bring extensive technical expertise and market experience, which will be instrumental in delivering excellence for our customers across the region.”
