Charles Monat Associates (CMA) has appointed Teddy Chu as the Chief Executive Officer of its Hong Kong office, effective 1 May 2025.

Chu, currently serving as Deputy CEO for the life insurance brokerage, will take over from Berry Wong, who will transition to a Strategic Advisor role while establishing an independent wealth management practice.

Chu joined CMA in September 2024 and has over 25 years of experience in wealth planning and financial advisory. He has held senior positions at HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, BNP Paribas, and Royal Bank of Canada and expertise includes structuring wealth and succession planning solutions, including trusts, private investment companies, and life insurance. He is also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Canada and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) UK.

Wong has led CMA’s Hong Kong operations since 2017, overseeing its expansion following a management buyout from Willis Towers Watson and guiding it through market challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic. In his new role, Wong will continue to provide strategic input while focusing on his independent practice.

“Leading CMA as APAC CEO has been more than just a role—it has been a journey of collaboration and shared success with my colleagues,” said Wong. “I am extremely proud of what we have built together and confident that CMA will continue to grow.”

Yves Guélat, Group CEO of CMA, expressed confidence in the transition, stating: “Teddy brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of the high-net-worth financial landscape. I look forward to working with him as he leads CMA’s next phase in Hong Kong. I also extend my gratitude to Berry for his years of dedication and leadership.”
