Prudential plc has appointed Naveen Tahilyani as regional CEO and Rajeev Mittal as CEO of Eastspring Investments, the business announced in a media release on Thursday, 22 May.

Tahilyani will join from Tata Digital and will remain in India for the position, which is effective 29 July. In this new role, he will oversee business operations throughout India, Africa, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, in addition to a focus on health-related lines of business.

He brings nearly two decades of experience in insurance, banking, and asset management, holding senior roles at McKinsey & Company, Tata AIA Life Insurance, and AIA.

Speaking on his appointment, Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani said: “Continuing to build our Health pillar, and driving growth across India, Africa, the Philippines, as well as Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar are strategic gamechangers for Prudential. I am confident Naveen is the right leader in the right location to deliver the impact we need.”

Alongside his appointment, Prudential named Mittal as head of Eastspring Investments, its asset management arm, effective 1 July.

Based in Singapore, Mittal joins from Fidelity International and will succeed Bill Maldonado, who has retired from the industry following more than 30 years of service, including nearly four years at Prudential.

He brings 30 years of experience in asset management across Asia and Europe, including time at AIG Global Investment Group and PineBridge Investments.

“As we look to the future, I am delighted to welcome Rajeev to Prudential, whose deep expertise in the Asian markets, combined with a proven track record in managing and scaling asset management businesses and client relationships, position him exceptionally well to drive the continued growth and success of Eastspring,” Wadhwani said.

Prudential’s CEO also paid tribute to the retiring Maldonado, saying he “drove the growth of our Eastspring business, strengthened the leadership team, and clearly defined priorities shaping the future of Eastspring. Bill has been a role model and a valued leader at Prudential, and we wish him the very best in his retirement.”
