Zurich Insurance has appointed Jim Qin as CEO, Life and General Insurance for its Hong Kong business, the company announced on LinkedIn on Thursday, 10 July.
Qin first joined Zurich in 2019 as Chief Underwriting Officer for Asia Pacific, before moving into the role of CEO of General Insurance for Hong Kong in 2021.
“In this expanded role, Jim will oversee both the life and general insurance businesses in Hong Kong, steering our strategic growth in this dynamic market,” Zurich said.
Qin brings over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, having held leadership and board positions across multiple Asian markets. Prior to joining Zurich, he worked with Tokio Marine and WTW.
Zurich has been making key moves in APAC this year. In June, the insurer announced the launch of its commercial insurance arm in India, appointing Ranjit Bhargava as Head of Distribution and Sumit Gupta as Executive Vice President for Distribution for the division.
In May, the business also announced key SME-focused appointments for the region, with Theo Pitsikas named as APAC Head of SME, and James Garrett taking on Pitsikas’s former role as Head of SME for ANZ.
