HDI Global has appointed Nikita Tikhonov as its new Head of Marine Global Risk, effective 1 September, the insurer announced on Tuesday. He succeeds Felix Cassau, who is moving on to new opportunities.
Tikhonov has been with HDI for over seven years, starting in 2018 as a Marine and GPA Underwriter and most recently, as a Global Risk Underwriter. Prior to joining HDI, he started his career in the insurance industry as a Marine and Property Underwriter in Russia.
Bringing extensive industry experience and marine expertise to his new role, Tikhonov will lead a team of five professionals responsible for developing HDI Global’s Marine value proposition. Based in Hannover, he reports to Carsten Schulte, HDI’s Head of Marine Underwriting.
Meanwhile, Schulte welcomed the appointment, commenting, “Nikita brings strong expertise, energy, and a fresh perspective to the role. I am confident that under his leadership, we will continue to act as our clients’ and brokers’ preferred Partner in Transformation as he will drive our Marine Global Risk agenda forward.”
Schulte also thanked Cassau’s contribution to HDI, adding, “He has played a pivotal role in shaping a forward-looking strategy for Marine Global Risk and fostered a positive and collaborative culture within our community.”
Tikhonov’s promotion follows several other appointments made by HDI Global in recent months, including Tom Hansen as Senior Liability Underwriter in Australia and Alex Howell as Underwriting Manager, Property, in Singapore.
