HDI Global SE has appointed Tom Hansen as Senior Liability Underwriter & EIL Technical Lead in its Brisbane office, the insurer announced on LinkedIn on Wednesday, 6 August.

Hansen joins HDI from CGU Insurance, where he served as Lead Liability Underwriter for almost a year. He brings over eight years of experience in the insurance industry, with expertise spanning both insurance broking and underwriting.

In his new role, Hansen will focus on strengthening HDI’s General Liability offering in Queensland while also leading the development of the company’s Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) product offering across Australia.

“Tom comes to us with extensive experience from both insurance broking and underwriting. With Tom’s positive attitude and collaborative spirit, he will bolster HDI’s General Liability offering in QLD as well as help build our Environmental Impairment Liability product offering for Australia,” said Ashley Barrett, Queensland Liability Manager at HDI Global SE.

Hansen’s hire follows a series of key appointments at HDI Global across the Asia Pacific region, including Alex Howell as Underwriting Manager, Property in Singapore, in July. The company also announced a new parametric insurance offering in Japan the same month.
