Arch Insurance Australia has appointed insurance industry veteran Shawn Jarman as senior casualty underwriter, effective immediately, the insurer announced on Thursday.

He joins the business after spending over six years at the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority, most recently serving as a risk advisor. Earlier in his career, he held underwriting and account management roles at Epsilon Underwriting, Marsh Risk, Allianz and Vero Insurance.

Based in Melbourne, Jarman brings more than 30 years of experience in the Australian insurance market. “In this role, Jarman is responsible for supporting the growth of the casualty portfolio with a particular focus on underwriting new and renewal public and products liability business,” Arch Insurance said on LinkedIn.

He will report to Carmen Tung, who was promoted to the role of Southern Region casualty underwriting manager in April 2024.

Tung said, “He brings extensive casualty underwriting and risk advisory experience, together with strong technical capabilities and a relationship-focused approach.” She added that the appointment will strengthen the casualty team as the company continues to expand its portfolio and increase support for its broker partners.

Earlier this month, Arch promoted Andrew Whitlock to head of casualty. The insurer also appointed Dave Ha as senior executive assurance underwriter and Fariha Neda as northern region executive assurance underwriting manager earlier this year.
