Ocean Underwriting has promoted Glenn Burke to senior underwriter for property, the managing general agent (MGA) said in a LinkedIn update on Monday.
Burke joined the Sydney-based MGA in early 2024 after spending a decade in various roles at Allianz Australia.
“Since joining Ocean in early 2024, Glenn has played a crucial role in the growth and success of our property portfolio, while also supporting and mentoring our younger team members,” said Sebastian Allison, head of property, Ocean Underwriting.
The promotion comes as the MGA continues to grow its underwriting team in Australia. Last month, Ocean Underwriting appointed Lucy Tairi as liability underwriter and Layla Williams as assistant underwriter.
In March, it added six team members across its property, financial lines and liability businesses in Sydney and Melbourne.
The hiring spree followed the February launch of a Lloyd’s-backed complex risks liability facility designed for underwriting complex or hard-to-place liability risks outside standard liability policies.
