MS Amlin has appointed Darren Toh, Yosuke Yasuda, and Amirul (PJ) Ashraf to its underwriting team as part of its ongoing expansion in the region, the Lloyd’s specialty (re)insurer announced in a press release issued on Wednesday.

Returning to Singapore, Toh joins as a Senior Underwriter, effective October 6, from Nephila Capital, Markel’s reinsurance arm in Bermuda. There, he worked for over eight years, most recently as Head of Insurance & Senior Underwriter (Treaty). He brings 13 years of industry experience, having worked for companies such as Prudential Assurance Company Singapore, AXA, and Validus Reinsurance, among others.

Yasuda has also been appointed Senior Underwriter, effective October 13. He joins from Aon Reinsurance Solutions following a three-year stint, most recently as Head of Casualty for Asia and China. Prior to joining Aon, he spent over 17 years of his career at Swiss Re as a Casualty Lead Underwriter.

Both Toh and Yasuda will be reporting to William Ho, CEO of MS Amlin APAC.

Ashraf is joining MS Amlin as Underwriter, starting January 5, 2026. He previously worked for Malaysian Re for over eight years, most recently as AVP, Underwriter, Treaty, where he handled international underwriting, risk, and capital management. In his new role, he will report to Ee Voon Teh, Underwriter at MS Amlin.

Welcoming the three, Ho said, “Darren, Yosuke, and PJ bring a powerful mix of technical knowledge and client insight that will help MS Amlin accelerate growth and innovation in APAC. Their expertise and experience will be instrumental as we continue to expand our capabilities across the region.”

The new appointments come as the Lloyd’s global (re)insurer continues to expand its regional footprint and invest in reinsurance growth across APAC, following the opening of MS Amlin’s Australian branch and the appointment of Matt Botfield as Head of Australia and New Zealand in March.
