Zurich Insurance Group has appointed Megan Shao as Chief Claims Officer for Asia Pacific, effective 1 February 2026, the company announced on 7 November.
Based in Singapore, Shao will report to Sean Walker, Head of Commercial Insurance and Chief Technical Officer for Asia Pacific. She rejoins Zurich from AXA XL, where she was Head of Claims for Asia. Shao previously worked at Zurich’s Hong Kong office between 2020 and 2022.
Shao has more than 17 years of industry experience. She began her career with Chubb in Shanghai as a Regional Specialty Claims Specialist and later moved to its Hong Kong office. She also held a role at Canopius in Singapore before joining AXA XL.
In the new role, she will oversee the claims function across Asia Pacific, with responsibility for executing strategy and ensuring efficient claims handling across business lines.
Walker welcomed Shao’s return to the company, saying: “Her experience, leadership and technical expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our claims service to our customers across the region.”
Her appointment continues a series of leadership moves by Zurich in Asia Pacific this year. In August, Zurich Malaysia promoted Yuan Feng Hoo to Chief Pricing Actuary and Head of Technical Excellence, while Zurich Kotak General Insurance appointed Abhitosh Pandey as Head of its Digital Business Unit.
