Agile Underwriting Services (Agile) has appointed Matthew Rowan as Group Risk and Compliance officer, the company announced in a media release.
Rowan brings more than 25 years of industry experience to his new role and joins the managing general agent (MGA) from Aon, where he was Chief Compliance Officer.
Based in Sydney, Rowan will oversee the syndicate service company, MGA operations, and claims handling units, while working with broking partners, Agile said in its announcement.
Robin Barham, CEO of Agile Group, commented on the appointment: “We’ve known Matt for a long time, and his experience is a rare mix of London market and Australian experience that matches the Agile Group perfectly. The retail expertise he brings from managing conduct and compliance at Australia’s largest broking groups and he is ideally suited to our portfolio mix focused on Australian SMEs.”
Before his role at Aon, Rowan held senior positions at several large broking groups in Australia, including AUB Group and Steadfast. Prior to his relocation to Sydney in 2020, Rowan spent 10 years at Argenta Group in London, including time spent as Chief Risk Officer and Compliance Director.
Mark Hunt, Head of Underwriting at Agile, added: “Matt’s knowledge of Lloyd’s requirements, stemming from his five-year period as a risk executive within the corporation, will be a great support as we continue to work on the new syndicate 2427 in the highly regulated and maturing Australian market.”
Agile Syndicate 2427 is managed by Asta, a third-party managing agent at Lloyd’s and part of the Davies Group.
