AIA has announced the winners of the fourth annual AIA Healthiest Schools Competition, with the insurer also confirming that the programme will expand to Myanmar and New Zealand in the 2026/27 edition.
The competition forms part of AIA’s Healthiest Schools programme, which was launched in 2022 and supports students aged five to 16 through initiatives focused on healthy eating, active lifestyles, mental wellbeing, and health and sustainability. The programme currently operates across 10 Asia-Pacific markets.
According to AIA, the 2025/26 competition attracted a record number of entries, with participating schools submitting projects designed to promote healthier habits among students and their communities.
Indonesia’s SMP IL Kapten Fatubaa was named the regional winner for its “Huka Upcycling Project”, which converts banana peel waste into ice cream, compost and liquid fertiliser. AIA said the initiative has benefited more than 1,000 people while supporting environmental literacy and local farming.
Category awards were presented to Angchum Secondary School in Cambodia for health and sustainability, Chongqing Nan’an District Shanhu Puhui Experimental Primary School in China for mental wellbeing, Sekolah Kebangsaan Manir in Malaysia for active lifestyles, and Chu Van An Primary School in Vietnam for healthy eating.
The winners were recognised at a regional awards ceremony in Bangkok, where AIA awarded a total prize pool of US$100,000 to support the schools’ ongoing health and wellbeing initiatives.
The expansion to Myanmar and New Zealand next year will also see the competition continue in its existing markets of Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, mainland China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
