AAon has appointed Christian Hoffman as global CEO of commercial risk, effective 1 June, the company announced on Tuesday.
In his new role, Hoffman will lead Aon’s global commercial risk business and report to Joe Peiser, CEO of risk capital at Aon.
Hoffman currently serves as Aon’s global specialty and financial products leader and head of M&A for North America. Since joining Aon in 2003, he has held several senior leadership positions, including global cyber leader, CEO of cyber solutions for North America, president of US cyber solutions, US practice leader for professional risk solutions, and east region leader for the financial services group.
He brings more than 25 years of experience across the insurance and financial services industries. Prior to joining Aon, Hoffman spent five years at Chubb as an underwriting manager and senior underwriter.
“Commercial Risk is central to how we help clients navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected risk environment,” Peiser said. “Hoffman’s deep specialty experience and understanding of how to connect risk with the right forms of capital position him exceptionally well to lead Commercial Risk at a time when clients need greater clarity, flexibility and innovation.
Christian Hoffman’s appointment is the latest in a series of leadership hires by Aon across the region this year, including Masahito (Max) Hirai as chief executive officer of its Japan business, Karl Hamann as Philippines chief executive, Richard Tan and Maggie Hsieh, who now lead commercial strategy for Southeast Asia and North Asia, and the expansion of Daniel England’s role to as head of APAC casualty treaty on the reinsurance side of the business.
