AXA XL has appointed Sylvie Gleises as Regional Chief Executive Officer for Asia, effective 24 March 2025, the (re)insurer announced in a media release on Wednesday.
She succeeds Gilles Fromageot, who is now CEO of AXA Morocco and CIMA. Gleises will also remain CEO of AXA XL Singapore.
Gleises joined AXA Group in 2006 and held various senior positions in France, including CEO of Continental Europe, Global Head of Distribution and Marketing at AXA Art, and Head of Revenue Synergies and Head of Client Management at AXA XL, before moving to Asia.
In its announcement, the global (re)insurer said that, since her move to Singapore in 2021, Gleises has been “instrumental in strengthening AXA XL’s market presence and driving business growth in a highly competitive environment.”
Commenting on the appointment, Xavier Veyry, Regional CEO for APAC & Europe at AXA XL, said that Gleises’s “extensive strategic vision, proven leadership and industry expertise” make her the ideal choice to drive the business’s continued growth in Asia.
“I am confident that under her leadership, we will further strengthen our position as a trusted partner, delivering tailored solutions that support our clients and brokers across the region,” Veyry added.
Gleises is a graduate of ESCP French business school and holds a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics. She is also the President of the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and is on the Global Advisory Board of TEFAF.
