Berkley Insurance Asia has announced the promotion of Ernest Teng to Head of Financial Lines, effective January 1st 2024.
His new responsibilities will see him oversee the Singapore-based Financial Lines team and manage the company’s Facultative business interests across South East Asia, Mauritius, and Japan.
Teng has been an integral part of the insurer since joining the firm in 2018 as a Senior Underwriter for Financial Lines before being promoted to Financial Lines Underwriting Manager in August 2020. Prior to his tenure with Berkley, Teng gained experience at JLT Group where he served for four years.
Berkley Insurance Asia announced the promotion in a company statement on LinkedIn, stating, “We are thrilled to announce that Ernest Teng will be promoted to Head of Financial Lines with effect from 1st January 2024. Ernest has been with us since 2018 and has become a valuable thought leader, especially in the Financial Institutions and FinTech space.”
Teng assumes the role from Cassandra Lee, who is leaving to embark on a career opportunity in the online retail and commercial sector.
On Lee’s contribution to the company, Berkley said, “We are incredibly grateful to Cassandra for her outstanding contributions to building and leading the Financial Lines business for Berkley Insurance Asia, Singapore,” Adding she will remain a “remarkable colleague and a friend to many of us and the industry.”
