Berkley Re Asia has appointed Hena Choi as head of casualty, the reinsurer announced on Tuesday.

Choi is based in Singapore and started in the role this month. She joins from Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance in Seoul, where she spent two decades, most recently as underwriting principal covering casualty, financial and professional lines, and specialty risks.

“With more than 20 years of experience across casualty underwriting, financial lines and specialty products, Hena brings a wealth of expertise and leadership that will complement our existing capabilities across the region,” Berkley Re said.

The appointment follows Kenrick Law’s hire as head of underwriting and branch manager at the reinsurer earlier this year, and the election of APAC CEO Glen Riddell as chair of the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association in June.
