The Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) has appointed Glen Riddell, APAC CEO of Berkley Re, as its new chair during an executive committee meeting on Thursday.

Riddell succeeds James Beedle, former APAC CEO of PartnerRe, who has retired. Beedle briefly stepped into the chair role earlier this year following the departure of Kenrick Law, who had been appointed in 2024 after Marc Haushofer’s eight-year tenure.

Riddell has spent the past 11 years as CEO of Berkley Re, overseeing operations across Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Gen Re for 16 years before joining Willis Re as executive director and head of broking.

The SRA also expressed gratitude for Beedle’s service and leadership, particularly in advancing the association’s talent and education sectors. In a statement on LinkedIn, the SRA highlighted his contributions, noting his tenure as convenor of the education sub-committee from 2017 to 2024, deputy chair from 2024 to 2026, and chair in 2026.

Alongside Riddell’s, the SRA named Emma Loyne, Lloyd’s CEO for APAC, MEA, as deputy chair. Munich Re’s managing director Michael Hauer takes on the role of honorary secretary, while SCOR’s Mukul Kishore, CEO for reinsurance APAC, assumes the role of honorary treasurer.
