Gallagher Australia has appointed Johannes-Daniel (JD) Veldsman as chief commercial officer, the company announced on LinkedIn on Tuesday.
Veldsman joins the broker after seven years at Marsh, where he held several senior leadership roles, most recently as head of corporate and commercial – Pacific. He brings more than 15 years of insurance industry experience, including time at JLT Australia, Aon, and Loyalty Life.
In his new role, Veldsman will manage Gallagher’s areas of specialisation and drive the firm’s commercial strategy, growth agenda, and market expansion across the Pacific.
“Our team are looking forward to the insights, experience and leadership he will offer the business as well as the continued confidence our clients will experience as we enhance our specialist offerings to deliver tailored insurance solutions and effective risk management insight,” Gallagher commented on Veldsman’s appointment.
His move follows key regional appointments in the broker’s reinsurance arm, with Gallagher Re appointing Roshan Perera as head of APAC and Richard Jones as chairman last month, succeeding Mark O’Brien, who has left the business to pursue new opportunities outside broking, and Mark Morley, who is retiring.
Other key regional appointments so far this year include the promotion of Adam Sullivan to lead Gallagher’s specialty business in Asia, Minesh Jani as Gallagher Re’s India CEO, and Ken Wise, who returned to the business as head of corporate and natural resources for Western Australia.
