HDI Global SE has appointed Takatoshi Fukumoto as senior risk engineer and deputy general manager of risk engineering at its Japan Branch, effective 1 May 2026.
Based in Tokyo, Fukumoto joined HDI from Sompo Group, where he spent just over two years, most recently as a senior consultant, working on areas including insurance due diligence.
He brings extensive engineering and industry experience to his new role. Before moving into insurance consulting, he spent more than four years at ENEOS Group as a plant engineer, following a 16-year stint at JGC as a project engineer.
“With a career spanning complex risk engineering assignments, including deep expertise in the energy sector, and extensive overseas project leadership, Takatoshi brings a truly global perspective to our Risk Engineering function,” the company said in its announcement.
The appointment comes amid a broader set of talent moves across the group, including the creation of a global head of claims for energy and power role filled by David Wilson, HDI Global Specialty’s promotion of Richard Upton to New Zealand branch manager, and HDI Global Singapore’s hire of Diane Chong as senior underwriter, downstream energy.
