The Japan P&I Club has announced a major organisational overhaul alongside a series of senior personnel changes, all effective from 22 July 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to streamline operations and strengthen core functions.

As part of the restructuring, Yuichi Tanaka, a former director of the association, will now serve as Director and General Manager of the Reinsurance & Regulatory Affairs Department.

At the same time, Naoyuki Moriya, another former director, will take on the expanded role of Director, Head of Underwriting Units and General Manager of the Imabari Branch.

Meanwhile, Masahide Inde has been appointed General Manager of the Planning Department and Assistant General Manager of the Underwriting Management Department. Inde was previously the General Manager of the Planning Department and Team Leader of its Planning Team.

Riki Yamamoto has also been appointed General Manager of the London Liaison Office. Yamamoto previously served as Deputy Head of Underwriting Units and General Manager of both the Reinsurance & Regulatory Affairs Department and the Underwriting Management Department.

In tandem with the new appointments, the organisation also said that the Claims Department I will dissolve the Tokyo P&I Team III. Its responsibilities will be redistributed across five newly defined units: Tokyo P&I Teams I and II, the FD&D/Legal Team, and the Kobe and Imabari P&I Teams. The Club has released an updated organisational chart to reflect the changes.

The announcement came two months after the organisation revealed personnel changes for underwriting, which included Koji Shikada’s appointment as Deputy Head of Underwriting Units while also serving as the General Manager of Tokyo Underwriting Department I.

Stay ahead on the region’s key appointments.
