Joseph Smart is joining Lockton Asia as the Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance, effective 16th September, the company announced today (9 Sep).
Based in Singapore, Smart will undertake his new position following over 5 years with QBE Asia, where he most recently held the position of Head of Risk, Compliance and Legal.
As a financial services lawyer, Smart brings extensive legal experience in the insurance industry. Originally from London, Smart worked for AIG before his time at QBE, first as Legal Counsel in its London office, before relocating to Singapore to take on the role of Commercial General Counsel for AIG in the Asia-Pacific region.
In his new role with Lockton Asia, Smart will report functionally to Sam Clark, Lockton’s International General Counsel, and managerially to Warren Merritt, Lockton Asia’s CEO.
