Lockton has appointed Siva Thangavelu as Chief Operating Officer of Lockton Sime Malaysia, the insurer announced on Monday.

Thangavelu brings over 20 years of financial services experience in insurance and banking, across strategy execution, operational excellence, and large‑scale organisational change.

He joins Lockton from Swiss Re, where he served as Head of Strategy & Operations KL, before becoming Centre of Expertise Lead within Operational Resilience & Governance. Prior, he has held senior roles at CIMB, Marsh McLennan, Royal Bank of Canada, and HSBC.

“Siva’s breadth of experience across global financial institutions and his demonstrated leadership in driving transformation make him an exceptional addition to our leadership team,” said Nicholas Lee, CEO of Lockton Sime Malaysia, on the appointment.

The global broker has seen significant management changes in the last month, having welcomed Nicholas Lee as CEO Designate of Malaysia and Jaideep (Jay) Sharma as CEO of India.

The senior appointments followed multiple key regional appointments in 2026, including Livy Dai as CEO for China, Renuka Nar as director – head of life and health reinsurance for India, and Benjamin Fuente as head of aviation for Asia.
