Pacific Catastrophe Risk Insurance Company (PCRIC) has appointed Praneel Pritesh as business development advisor, the regional catastrophe risk insurer announced on LinkedIn.
Based in Suva, Pritesh joins after more than five years with the UN Development Programme, where he most recently served as regional technical specialist for the Pacific Insurance and Climate Adaptation Programme.
At PCRIC, he will lead efforts to extend the insurer’s financial protection solutions beyond sovereign coverage, targeting state-owned enterprises, utilities, critical infrastructure providers, key economic sectors, NGOs, humanitarian organisations and other institutions across the Pacific.
He has more than 17 years of experience spanning government, international development and financial services across the Pacific.
Previously, Pritesh spent over six years with the UN Capital Development Fund as a financial inclusion specialist for Fiji under the Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme. He also held senior economic planning roles with Fiji’s finance ministry and worked with the Reserve Bank of Fiji and the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.
The appointment follows another leadership change at PCRIC earlier this year, with long-serving director Siosiua Tuitalukua Utoikamanu named chairman of the company’s board.
