Aon has appointed Qin Lu as Head of Greater China, to oversee mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Lu, who is also a member of the Aon Asia-Pacific Executive Committee, will continue to lead Reinsurance Solutions in the region while leading the newly established Greater China sub-region.
Earlier this year, Aon created the Greater China sub-region to enhance representation of clients and the wider industry within the Asia Pacific region. Lu’s role will involve amalgamating Aon’s Risk Capital and Human Capital capabilities to offer comprehensive client solutions.
Commenting on the appointment, Anne Corona, chief executive officer of Asia Pacific, Aon, stated: “I am thrilled to have Qin lead the continued growth of the Greater China sub-region. He has demonstrated a strong track record of leading across solution lines to deliver Aon United capabilities to our clients. Qin will build on the team’s success and strengthen collaboration across the region to provide greater clarity and confidence to help clients protect and grow their businesses.”
Before his appointment, Lu served as co-head of China and CEO of Reinsurance Solutions, Greater China at Aon. He joined Aon in 2016 after spending 19 years at Swiss Re, where he had various strategic and leadership roles, including serving as president for Swiss Re’s China business.
Lu commented on the new position, saying, “The establishment of the Greater China sub-region is not simply the summation of several markets – it is driven by inherent growth opportunities for our clients and colleagues in the region. These geographic hubs are key drivers for the success of the Asia-Pacific region and we can continue to help clients tackle their biggest needs.
