The UK P&I Club on Thursday announced the appointment of Richard Offord as the new Chief Executive of its Singapore Branch.
Offord, who has been with the Thomas Miller business since 1997, takes over from Yiah Soon Ng (YS) on 1 Dec 2024, with Ng retiring after more than 27 years leading the Singapore office.
Offord will move to Singapore from his role as Claims Director in London, and reports to Andrew Jones, the Club’s Regional Director for Asia.
APAC is a key region for the UK P&I Club, accounting for nearly half of the Club’s entered tonnage, with the Singapore office recently expanding its underwriting presence.
“Asia Pacific is a key growth area for the Club and Richard’s wealth of experience, combined with our established knowledge, history, and infrastructure in the region, will help us to continue to support the Club’s prestigious Members in this important market,” said Jones.
Speaking on his new role, Offord said, “I am pleased to be joining the Singapore team during a period of significant growth and expansion within the Asia Pacific region.”
The retiring Ng began his career at Thomas Miller in 1997 as a claims manager for both the TT Club and the UK P&I Club’s Singapore Branch. He was appointed Chief Executive of the Branch in 2009 and took on the role of Chief Executive for the TT Club’s Singapore Branch in 2017.
Speaking on Ng’s retirement, Jones added, “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank YS for his years of service to the UK Club and wish him well in his retirement.”
