SBI Life Insurance has appointed Ramesh Venkateshamurthy as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, effective 29 May, the company announced in an exchange filing.
Venkateshamurthy, an alumnus of Bangalore University, is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.
He brings extensive experience from his tenure at State Bank of India (SBI), having served in various senior managerial positions across customer experience and business & operations.
Prior to this, Venkateshamurthy was General Manager since 2023, leading SBI’s digital banking division. He was responsible for driving digital products across channels, managing Yono Retail, and overseeing the end-to-end maintenance of SBI’s UPI (real-time payments) portfolio.
In FY2026, SBI Life posted a strong performance with its value of new business growing 12.1% to ₹66.7bn (US$709.1m). The growth was attributed to higher business volumes and changes in the new business mix.
