Sompo on Wednesday took to LinkedIn to announce new senior actuarial appointments in Asia, with Victor Fung named certifying actuary of Sompo Insurance Singapore, and Joyce Oo appointed actuary of Berjaya Sompo in Malaysia. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Fung takes on the new role in addition to his current duties as Senior Actuarial Manager at Sompo Hong Kong. He continues to report to Mudit Gupta, Chief Actuary, Sompo APAC, and has a matrix reporting line to Alasdair Walker, Chief Executive Officer for Hong Kong. Fung is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and brings nine years of actuarial and regulatory experience to the role.

Joyce Oo joins after 7 years with AIA and has over 12 years of actuarial and regulatory experience. She also reports to Gupta and has a matrix reporting line to Sek Kee Tan, Chief Executive Officer for Berjaya Sompo. Joyce is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) and the Actuarial Society of Malaysia (FASM).

“Both appointments reflect Sompo’s strong commitment to regulatory compliance and upholding actuarial governance and alignment in both markets and globally,” the company said. “It further drives regional collaboration, enhances operational efficiency, and builds leadership capability to support APAC’s sustainable growth.”

The appointments follow key hires in the region late last year, including Will Wang as head of casualty for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and Clara Yip as head of marine for the same territories.
