Hannover Re has appointed Yan Sun as Head of Life & Health Greater China, the reinsurer announced on LinkedIn on Tuesday.

Sun joins the business from Resolution Life in Sydney and will relocate to Hong Kong to take on the new role.

“With a strong actuarial background and deep industry experience across reinsurance and consulting, Yan brings both technical expertise and a sharp client focus to the role,” Hannover Re said. “Her leadership will be instrumental in shaping our strategy and strengthening partnerships in the region.”

Sun’s previous experience includes time at AXA, including as CEO of AXA Life Re Australia. Prior to that, she also spent over 5 years at Aon Benfield, including as its Director of Life Re, based in Singapore.

The move comes amid a series of developments by Hannover Re in the Asia region. Earlier this month, it was announced that the reinsurer was involved in supporting the Philippines’ first parametric insurance pilot for small-scale fishers. Last month, the business also promoted Kantaporn Thejatunga as GM for its Malaysia branch.
