Pacific Life Re has appointed Soichiro Makimoto as head of Japan Representative Office, the company announced in a press release on 3 December.
Makimoto joins from Moody’s Japan, where he most recently served as vice president – senior credit officer.
In his new role, Makimoto will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s activities in Japan and supporting its regional plans by working more closely with local clients.
He brings over 25 years of experience across the insurance and banking sectors. He previously worked for companies such as Aon Benfield, Willis Towers Watson, and PwC.
Rupen Shah, managing director, savings and retirement for Asia-Pacific & Individual Retirement, welcomed Makimoto, saying, “His appointment reflects our commitment to the Japanese market across all our lines of business. His wealth of experience in Japan will be instrumental in broadening and strengthening our client partnerships.”
The announcement follows other senior changes made by the company in the APAC region, including the appointments of Wallace Ong as head of business proposition and enablement, protection, Asia, and of Spenser Chen as Southeast Asia lead.
