Australian broker Aviso Specialty has continued its expansion push with the launch of Risk Intelligence, a new division aimed at giving clients broader access to senior-led risk management advisory.
Nicholas Martin has been appointed head of Risk Intelligence and will lead the new team, which will provide specialist risk management, with a focus on helping clients manage financial, operational and reputational exposures.
Martin brings more than 30 years of experience in risk management, including leadership roles supporting major corporate and public-sector clients across the Pacific region. He was most recently managing director at Occams Razor and previously held senior advisory roles at Marsh Pacific.
Josh Roach, CEO of Aviso Specialty, said the new division is intended to make senior risk consulting expertise available to a wider group of clients.
“Across the market, senior risk consulting expertise has traditionally been concentrated around the largest organisations and most complex accounts. Risk Intelligence is about making that calibre of advice more accessible to a broader range of clients, delivered through senior-led specialist support,” Roach said.
Martin added that the model is designed to give brokers and clients flexibility in how they access risk expertise.
“This is not about creating fixed panels of risk consultants or prescribing pathways for clients. Risk Intelligence is designed to help our brokers and clients access the right expertise for the right problem, whether that expertise sits within Aviso Specialty or via our broader network of specialist consultants,” he said.
The launch is the latest step in Aviso Specialty’s broader expansion strategy. The company recently launched a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) practice and appointed Kane Sim to lead the unit, while also adding three senior hires last week. Earlier this year, Aviso Specialty unveiled 21 appointments, including a string of senior recruits from rival broker Lockton, as it continued investing in its national capability and growth platform.
