Howden has appointed Sonija Cheng as director, financial lines, Hong Kong, as the broker continues to expand its financial lines capabilities in the market.
The appointment was announced on Friday by Franky Mok, Howden’s senior director, financial lines, Hong Kong, who joined the broker in March.
Cheng brings nearly two decades of experience advising financial institutions, fintechs, private equity firms and venture capital firms across the region.
She joins Howden from WTW, where she was associate director, and previously, she was vice president at Marsh.
“Her specialist expertise in D&O, professional indemnity, crime, and cyber risks, combined with a deep understanding of the evolving financial services landscape, will be a tremendous asset to both our clients and our team,” Mok said.
The appointment comes as Howden continues to build out its Hong Kong financial lines team. Last month, the broker named Jason Lam associate director, financial lines, strengthening its risk advisory capabilities for corporate clients.
While Mok joined as senior director in March, Jennifer Tiang joined the same month as regional practice lead, financial lines, Asia.
In another major leadership change in Hong Kong, Alaric Lee took over as chief executive officer on 1 July, succeeding Alfred Sham.
