Sompo has appointed Winnie Chau as senior underwriter, financial lines, for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, the company announced on Monday.

Based in Hong Kong, Chau joins from AIG, where she spent five years, most recently as assistant manager, financial lines. Previously, she gained experience at Zurich Insurance.

She brings more than 14 years of underwriting experience in financial lines, including cyber and professional indemnity, Sompo said.

“Winnie will be instrumental in growing our financial lines portfolio, strengthening our underwriting capabilities, and delivering the tailored solutions our brokers and clients rely on,” the insurer said.

Chau reports into a business Sompo has been building out across the region. The insurer named Canon Liu head of financial lines for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan in June, and then appointed Dave Wong as property underwriter for the same territories. It also appointed Claire Chin as Asia-Pacific head of enterprise risk management and operations in July.
