ProTec General Insurance has appointed Vijay Anand as chief investment officer, the company announced on Monday.
Anand joins the Indian insurer with more than 25 years of experience across fixed income, treasury, insurance, capital markets, and wealth management.
He joins from Trust, where he has served as research director for investments and credits. His previous experience includes director of investment and analytics at Dexif, a financial markets consultant, and time at Canara HSBC Life, Aviva Life, and Reliance Life.
ProTec said Anand’s “market judgement, regulatory understanding and analytical depth will be invaluable as we build a disciplined, agile and future-ready investment function”.
The hire adds to a leadership team the insurer has assembled since securing its licence from IRDAI in July. It named Bhaskar Nerurkar as chief of its capability centre this month, following the appointment of Subramanyam Brahmajosyula as head of underwriting and reinsurance earlier in August.
ProTec is backed by the M Pallonji Group, promoted by Mehli Mistry and Pheroze Mistry, alongside investor Divya Sehgal and Federal Bank.
