Igloo appoints sasitharan krishnan as chief distribution officer expands southeast asia partnerships

Insurtech firm Igloo has appointed Sasitharan Krishnan as Chief Distribution Officer (CDO) as it expands its partnerships across Southeast Asia.

Krishnan joins Igloo after working for over five years at Sompo, most recently as Senior Vice President, Asia Affinity. In his new role, he will lead Igloo’s distribution strategy, focusing on regional partnerships and insurer collaboration.

Krishnan brings over 30 years of industry experience, with expertise in insurance distribution. Before working for Sompo, he also held senior positions at firms across Asia, including Allianz Ayudhya Assurance, Tune Project, AM Bank, and HSBC.

CEO Raunak Mehta commented on Krishnan’s appointment, saying, “His extensive experience in insurance distribution and digital sales will be instrumental in building new partnerships, driving value for Igloo and our partners, and ensuring our products are consumer-centric, accessible, and effectively delivered across business lines.”

Alongside this appointment, Igloo has expanded partnerships in key markets in the region.

In the Philippines, Igloo has launched Gadget Protection with Salmon and Goods Protection with Skyro, covering household items. Its partnership with Shopee now includes Goods Protection for eligible online purchases, underwritten by SeaInsure.

In Indonesia, the insurtech has new deals with Akulaku and Kredivo to introduce gadget and travel insurance, respectively. Igloo has also launched Xtra Protection with DANA, safeguarding e-wallet balances against fraud.

For Thailand, Igloo’s partnership with True Money now includes vehicle protection, while Lazada Thailand has added flight Insurance for domestic and international travel.

“These partnerships underscore Igloo’s efforts to make insurance more seamless and integrated into everyday online transactions,” said Mehta.
