Aon has named Andrew Minnitt as Head of Southeast Asia and Qin Lu as Head of North Asia effective immediately, according to LinkedIn announcements made on Thursday. The appointments come alongside the creation of two new subregional structures for the business.
Minnitt has been part of Aon’s Asia operations since 2014, initially as CEO of its Philippine business. In his new role, he will oversee Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. He will assume the expanded responsibilities while maintaining his current remit as Head of Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and will also continue as CEO of Singapore, a role he assumed in 2019.
Minnitt brings over three decades of industry experience, having worked with insurers across Asia and South Africa. He has held numerous senior roles for firms, including AIG, Lockton, and Jardine Lloyd Thompson Limited, among others.
Qin has worked at Aon for over nine years and has close to 30 years of industry experience, including 19 years at Swiss Re before joining Aon.
With this appointment, Qin takes charge of North Asia, encompassing Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau. He will maintain his existing responsibility as Head of Greater China, but will work with the regional reinsurance leadership team to transition his responsibilities as CEO, Reinsurance for Greater China, in the months ahead.
The announcement follows several key appointments in the region made by Aon in the past month, including Bonjay Koo as Enterprise Client Leader for South Korea, Mike Baker as Regional Managing Director for APAC, Lin Mun as Client Management Director at Aon Re Malaysia, and Jocelyn Po as Head of Reinsurance Solutions in the Philippines.
