Aon has hired Rae Ong as associate director, growth and DAU, for Southeast Asia, Richard Tan, the broker’s chief commercial officer for Southeast Asia, said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.
Ong joins from BMS, where she spent three years as business development lead for Southeast Asia, after a year at events technology firm EventX and almost six years at deal data room provider SS&C Intralinks.
She brings more than a decade of experience across Southeast Asia advising financial institutions, private equity firms and corporates on bespoke risk and transaction solutions for capital markets and cross-border M&A.
“As dealmakers navigate increasingly complex cross-border transactions, Rae’s expertise and regional relationships will help our clients manage risk with greater confidence,” said Tan.
Ong is not the first to leave BMS as the broker scales back in Asia. Martijn de Lange made the same move in February, when he rejoined Aon from BMS as APAC managing director for transaction solutions, and in June, Asia CEO Sandra Lee left to become Lockton’s chief growth officer for risk solutions. Lockton also took Faith Swee for its APAC transaction liability practice earlier in the year, while Howden hired Chloe Cha from BMS’s Korea desk in June.
