Berkley Insurance has appointed Caroline Chan as commercial lines senior underwriter for Greater China, the business announced on LinkedIn on Thursday.

Hong Kong-based Chan joins after four years with Chubb and brings more than a decade of extensive experience in financial lines, including specialising in directors and officers liability insurance. Her previous stints include time at Zurich and AIA.

In her new role at Berkley, Chan will work closely with Esther Kwok, head of commercial lines for Greater China.

“Caroline’s appointment further strengthens our capabilities and reinforces our commitment to delivering greater value to clients and partners across the region,” Berkley said.

The move comes with the business looking to strengthen its foothold in Asia. Earlier this month, the company officially began its operations in India, having become the first property and casualty insurer in the country’s GIFT City to operate under dual insurance and reinsurance licences.
