Sun Life has appointed Bianca Ilibasic as managing director for Sun Life Global Solutions (SLGS), leading the global capability centre across India and the Philippines, the company announced on Monday.

Ilibasic has been with the insurer since 2022 and most recently served as vice president and chief operations officer of Sun Life Asia, where she advanced straight-through processing, accelerated digital adoption, and shaped a forward-looking AI roadmap to drive business growth, the insurer said.

She has more than 15 years of industry experience, having held various leadership roles across her stints at Manulife, Prudential Corporation, and AXA.

In her new role, Ilibasic will direct multi-functional teams spanning technology, operations, analytics, actuarial, human resources, finance, and risk and compliance. She is tasked with further scaling SLGS as a high-impact enterprise capability supporting Sun Life across 28 markets.

“Over the past four years, Bianca has been a driving force behind operational excellence and digital transformation, leading with clarity, courage, and a deep commitment to our purpose,” Laura Money, EVP and chief information and technology innovation officer, said. “Bianca has been consistently delivering results while building strong, empowered teams. She is a visionary, insights driven leader who brings energy, heart, and ambition to everything she does—and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see her step into this role.”

Ilibasic’s appointment comes after Sun Life Asia posted a 17% increase in underlying net income in the first quarter of 2026 as Hong Kong sales lifted new business contractual service margin (CSM) despite tougher competition.
