Coface has appointed Zach Spencer as head of risk underwriting for the Asia Pacific region, effective 1 October 2026, the trade credit insurer announced on Thursday (1 October).
Relocating to Singapore for his new role, Spencer joined Coface Canada in 2020 and most recently served as head of claims and debt collection for North America. He also previously held the role of vice president and head of risk underwriting for Canada.
He brings over 15 years of experience spanning risk underwriting, portfolio management, commercial lending, credit insurance and business transformation. Before joining Coface, he worked as a director at eCapital.
“Zach will be responsible for implementing Coface’s underwriting policies, developing the teams’ capabilities and maintaining high standards of risk analysis, portfolio monitoring and operational performance”, Coface said in its announcement. “He will also work closely with commercial, claims and debt collection teams to support profitable growth across the region.”
Spencer will report to Raphael Rousselot, chief underwriting officer for the Asia Pacific region, with a dotted reporting line to Anca Dan, the group head of risk underwriting.
Rousselot said, “His experience in risk underwriting and portfolio management, together with his understanding of Coface’s commercial and operational priorities, will be valuable as we strengthen our underwriting capabilities across the region.”
Spencer’s appointment follows a series of regional hires announced by Coface this year. The business appointed Natthaphan Phanitchawong as head of commercial for Thailand, promoted Jason Tan to head of commercial for Malaysia, and named Antoine Pachoud as head of commercial for Japan. In July, the trade credit insurer hired Ivor Miric as head of debt collection sales for Asia Pacific.
