Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has appointed Blake Gleeson to the newly created role of chief client officer in Australia, effective 1 June, the company announced on LinkedIn.

Based in Perth, Gleeson joins the broker after over six years with Marsh, where he most recently served as managing director and head of employee benefits for Australia.

To his new role, Gleeson brings more than 30 years of experience in risk management and people risk across multinational organisations. Prior to joining Marsh, he spent more than five years at Aon, most recently as director of specialties for Western Australia. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership roles at Qantas, including group manager for workers’ compensation and group manager for health services.

“Known for leading change and aligning strategy with client outcomes, he will work closely across the business to drive a more coordinated, client-led approach,” the company noted in its announcement.

Gleeson’s appointment follows a number of leadership changes announced by Gallagher this year, including JD Veldsman as chief commercial officer in Australia, Adam Sullivan as chief executive of specialty for Asia, and Ken Wise as head of corporate and natural resources for Western Australia.
