Lockton appoints sung wook han as head of marine for asia

Lockton on Monday (August 1) announced the appointment of Sung Wook Han as its Regional Head of Marine for Asia, effective immediately.

Han has relocated from London to Singapore for the new role. Before the move, he spent 15 years at Willis Towers Watson (WTW), where he most recently served as Head of International Hull, GB Marine.

In his new role, Han will report to Warren Merritt, CEO of Asia, and he will be responsible for leading the Marine division and accelerating the growth of Lockton’s Marine business in the region.

“We are delighted to welcome Sung to Lockton as our Regional Head of Marine,” said Merritt. “His extensive experience and proven track record in the insurance industry make him an invaluable addition to our team.”

Merritt added that Sung’s expertise would add tremendous depth to the broker’s presence in Asia, which would help to assist in the growth acceleration of Lockton’s marine business. “I have full confidence that under Sung’s leadership, we will continue to provide exceptional service to our clients and reach new heights of success in the global marine insurance market,” Merrit said.

During his time at WTW, Sung led various aspects of insurance, including Hull & Machinery, War, Builders’ Risks, and other shipping-related risks for clients worldwide. He had been instrumental in significantly increasing the broker’s Marine profile and revenues and his accomplishments there included driving new business development, strategic investment hires, and navigating the challenging COVID-19 period, Lockton said.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Sung to our global Marine team”, said Alistair Rivers, Global Head of Marine and Transportation.

“Asia is such an important region for Shipping and Transportation, and I am delighted that we have attracted an individual of his calibre to lead us regionally. He joins us at a time when our teams across Asia have driven significant growth and, building on this success, he will lead us to provide a broader range of products and services to our Clients,” Rivers concluded.
