Marsh Risk has appointed David Wigley as its head of commercial in New Zealand, the business announced on LinkedIn on Friday.
Wigley has been with the broker since 2020, initially as a senior vice president in its London operations. Most recently, he served as the national growth leader after relocating to Auckland, New Zealand.
Wigley brings over 14 years of industry experience. Before joining Marsh Risk, he worked for Willis Towers Watson, most recently as divisional director for real estate practice, and at One Hundred Years LLC.
Before entering the insurance sector, Wigley had a professional cricket career in England, playing as a right-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batsman. He represented Yorkshire, Worcestershire and Northamptonshire County Cricket Club before retiring from the game in 2010.
“I’m honoured and excited to step into this role to lead our commercial business across New Zealand. I feel privileged to support our fantastic Marsh Commercial team to be their best, so we can deliver even better results for our clients,” Wigley commented with the announcement.
Wigley’s appointment comes after other recent leadership changes at Marsh Risk, including Nick Studer as group CEO and Didier Bélot as head of industry for Asia.
