Matthew Riddle, the executive chairman of Marsh Risk New Zealand, has been appointed interim President of Marsh Risk New Zealand, succeeding Toni Ferrier, as she departs from the role this month.

Ferrier, who joined Marsh in early 2024, will be stepping down as Chief Executive of Marsh NZ and President of Marsh Risk NZ at the end of August.

Riddle brings 30 years of experience across the sector, having served as CEO of Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) New Zealand from 2010 until its acquisition by Marsh in 2019.

He also serves on the Marsh Risk board of directors and is a member of the Marsh Risk New Zealand executive committee and the New Zealand advisory board. He is based in Wellington, Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

“From supply chain interruptions, maritime and geopolitical challenges to AI, emerging technologies and climate risks, this is a profound time of challenge for clients. Our work at Marsh continues to help our New Zealand clients grow and thrive through these times of change”, said Riddle.

The leadership transition comes as Marsh continues to invest in talent across Asia Pacific.

Earlier this year, the global broker promoted Gabe Money to risk consulting leader in New Zealand, after four years with the firm. Marsh has also expanded its regional leadership bench with three recent appointments to its Asia renewable energy team, alongside additional senior hires across its marine, cargo and logistics business.
