Prudential Hong Kong has appointed Abhishek Kumar as Chief Risk Officer and Grace Lee as General Counsel, the insurer announced in a media statement.

Both will report to Lawrence Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Hong Kong, and will join the Hong Kong Executive Committee.

In his role as CRO, Kumar will oversee and develop Prudential’s risk and compliance structure to support business growth and maintain effective management practices, Prudential said. He will also report to Avnish Kalra, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at Prudential plc.

Kumar, a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, has over 20 years of international experience in insurance and risk management and joins from KPMG, where he served as Head of Insurance Practice in Hong Kong and Head of the APAC Actuarial Practice.

Lee, as General Counsel, will handle all legal matters and the Company Secretary function, offering strategic legal guidance to ensure business growth in compliance with the law.

She has over 25 years of legal experience, having spent more than 20 years at Citi, most recently as General Counsel for Greater China and other regions.

“Abhishek and Grace have built highly successful careers in steering risk management and compliance during a period of regulatory change in the industry,” Lam said. “Their expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we navigate an ever-changing market and regulatory landscape.”
