Sompo Asia-Pacific has welcomed Gally Wong as senior construction underwriter for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan effective 11 May 2026, the company announced in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.

Based in Hong Kong, Wong reports to Szeto Ophelia, head of property and construction, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

A chartered civil engineer, Wong brings more than 10 years of regional underwriting experience in engineering and on‑site construction expertise.

“Gally brings strong technical depth and commercial insight to the role. She has extensive experience in underwriting and managing construction and engineering portfolios across Asia markets, delivering strong growth outcomes through active engagement with brokers,” the insurer said.

Her designation follows a series of senior appointments announced by the company this year, including Kelvin Woo as chief distribution officer for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan; Beatrice Morley as head of the London reinsurance team; Daniel Lukas as head of personal lines for APAC; and five senior appointments to its APAC commercial team in the first quarter of 2026.
